Two Suspected LeT Terrorists Killed in Infiltration Attempt in Jammu and Kashmir

Two suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed when army troops scuttled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The latest encounter follows the elimination of three hardcore terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terror attack in Srinagar.

Codenamed operation 'Shivshakti', the army neutralised the two terrorists in Poonch during the night as they tried to infiltrate from across the border. The Indian Army stated that the successful anti-infiltration operation was carried out with swift action and accurate firepower, resulting in the recovery of three weapons.

The army credited the success of the operation to synergistic intelligence inputs from their own units and J-K Police. The operation is still ongoing.

Earlier, Indian troops observed suspected movement of two individuals along the fence in the Poonch sector, leading to a gunfight. Following information about a possible infiltration attempt by Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, troops in the Maldivalan area of Degwar sector engaged in an encounter that resulted in the death of two terrorists.

A search operation confirmed the death of both terrorists involved in the encounter.
