Minibus accident on the way to wedding in NSW Hunter Valley
A groom and others were injured when a minibus crashed on its way to a wedding in Mount View, NSW Hunter Valley. The accident occurred on Mount View Road near Cessnock. A groom and another person are in critical condition after a minibus crashed on the way to a wedding in the NSW Hunter Valley. Four others were injured in the crash. Emergency crews responded to the incident on Mount View Road at Mount View, near Cessnock, just after 10:30 am. The minibus, carrying the groom and his groomsmen, rolled about 50 meters down an embankment. Six people were in the minibus during the crash, with the vehicle rolling approximately seven times. It took crews 45 minutes to rescue a 60-year-old man from the minibus, who was flown to John Hunter Hospital in critical condition with head injuries. A 50-year-old man was also flown to the hospital in critical condition with limb injuries, while the other four passengers were taken to the hospital by road and are in stable condition.
Hunter Valley District Commander Superintendent Steve Laksa mentioned that the weather conditions, including drizzling, dirt road, and unsealed road, may have contributed to the collision. The NSW Police Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the crash. The driver will undergo mandatory drug and alcohol testing, although there is no information suggesting alcohol was a factor. Mount View Road is expected to remain closed for some time.
