Canada's Men's Hockey Coaching Staff Set for Milano-Cortina Olympics

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. That appears to be Canada's philosophy for its men's hockey coaching group at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics. Hockey Canada announced Monday that the same group of assistants from the 4 Nations Face-Off would be joining head coach Jon Cooper. Bruce Cassidy (Vegas Golden Knights head coach), Peter DeBoer and Rick Tocchet (Philadelphia Flyers head coach) will all be behind the bench as the men's team looks for its first Olympic gold medal since 2014 — the last time NHLers participated.

\"This is a highly skilled group of coaches that bring impressive résumés to our staff,\" Cooper said, in a statement sent by Hockey Canada. \"This group of coaches will provide consistency and a winning pedigree to our team, and I know our players will greatly benefit from this world-class coaching staff. I look forward to working alongside all seven as we look to replicate our 4 Nations success on the Olympic stage in February.\"

Additionally, ex-Dallas Stars assistant Misha Donskov will return to his role as assistant and eye-in-the-sky alongside goaltending consultant David Alexander (St. Louis Blues), director of performance analysis James Emery and video coordinator Elliott Mondou (Blues). Canada won the 4 Nations Face-Off in overtime against the U.S. in February as Connor McDavid scored the winning goal. The men's Olympic hockey tournament runs Feb. 11-22 in Milan, Italy.
