Bihar Electoral Roll Update: Over 35 Lakh Voters Missing, EC Seeks Parties' Help

War of words has erupted after the Election Commission found around 35.7 lakh electors, constituting 4.5% of Bihar's total 7.9 crore electorate, missing from their recorded addresses. The EC will share their details with district presidents and booth level agents of political parties for verification by June 25.

The EC stated that only 6.8% of electors in Bihar need to submit their enumeration forms. Forms of 88.7% electors have been received, with 82% uploaded on ECINet. Of the 4.5% missing electors, 1.6% are likely deceased, 2.2% permanently shifted, and 0.7% enrolled at multiple places, covering 93.2% of Bihar's electors.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar thanked eligible electors for participating in the electoral roll cleaning. The last date for form submission is July 25, with all submissions included in the draft electoral roll on August 1, 2025.

As of now, 7 crore electors have submitted forms, with 6.5 crore uploaded on ECINet. Around 35.7 lakh electors were not found at their addresses, including 12.5 lakh likely deceased and 17.4 lakh permanently shifted.

EC urged temporarily migrated individuals to fill forms online or download pre-filled forms to ensure inclusion. Special camps are set up in all urban wards to facilitate the process.
