Jamie Gurney, 31, needed hospital treatment before his court appearance in Coleraine Magistrates Court. A barber accused of raping a woman twice in a day was attacked in a bar before his arrest by the police.
On Monday, Antrim man Jamie Gurney faced charges of rape and other sex offenses at Coleraine Magistrates Court. The 31-year-old is accused of two counts of rape and sexual assault by penetrating the alleged victim with a finger.
Gurney confirmed his understanding of the charges against him, alleged to have occurred on July 18 this year. He was a victim of a violent assault before being arrested and charged with serious sex offenses.
After being treated in the hospital, Gurney was arrested and charged. The police confirmed an assault report on a man in Antrim town before his arrest. Detective Constable Blair connected Gurney to the alleged sex offenses in court.
Defence counsel Browne mentioned that Gurney could be granted bail with suitable conditions. Deputy District Judge Dunlop granted bail of £500 but required a suitable address before release. The case was adjourned to August 12 with restrictions on Gurney.
