Quezon City Enhances Security Measures for President Marcos Jr.'s SONA 2025
Quezon City is ramping up security ahead of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28. Over 12,000 personnel, including 10,000 from the Quezon City Police District, will be deployed. Various city departments and government offices are providing additional support to ensure the safety of residents, guests, and demonstrators. The Quezon City government is gearing up for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28 at the Batasang Pambansa Complex. Tight security measures will be in place with over 12,000 personnel deployed citywide, including 10,000 from the Quezon City Police District. Support will also come from 2,300 members of the Law and Order Cluster and various government offices.
Key departments involved include the Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS), Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD), Task Force Disiplina, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), Department of Sanitation and Cleanup Works, Market Development and Administration Department, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
Mayor Joy Belmonte assured the public of safety, emphasizing close coordination with the Philippine National Police. Peaceful demonstrators are encouraged to coordinate with DPOS for rally permits. TTMD will manage traffic congestion near Batasan and other major roads, issuing rerouting advisories as needed.
Emergency response units, including DRRMO, Emergency Medical Services, Search and Rescue, and Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams, will be on standby to address any incidents.
