Islamabad Excise Department Introduces Personalized Number Plates and Digital Cards for Vehicle Owners

The Islamabad Excise and Taxation Department is implementing new measures to streamline vehicle registration, ownership transfer, and tax payments. These include personalized number plates, digital vehicle cards, and an upgraded mobile app for tax payments to make processes faster and more accessible.

In an interview with APP, Director Excise and Taxation Department Islamabad, Bilal Azam, highlighted the focus on improving vehicle-related services such as registration, ownership transfers, and token tax payments. The goal is to facilitate citizens through digital services like the Islamabad Citizen App, enabling convenient tax payments from home.

The introduction of personalized number plates will link registration numbers to vehicle owners, ensuring proper registration after a sale. This move aims to enhance vehicle tracking for law enforcement agencies and simplify ownership verification.

The department is also planning to digitize vehicle registration cards, replacing physical smart cards with downloadable digital cards accessible through Pak-ID accounts. The shift to online platforms and digital services is crucial for handling the large volume of registered vehicles efficiently.

Citizens are encouraged to pay token taxes on time to avoid penalties and take advantage of rebates. The department's reforms, including the City Islamabad app and upcoming digital vehicle cards, aim to modernize and streamline vehicle-related processes for residents.
