Mother of Convicted Cocaine Dealers Targeted in Shooting Incident

On the evening of December 7, 2003, a man wearing a stocking over his face shot and killed Sayed, 59, outside his home. The intended target was Ray Frangieh, a former convict involved in cocaine supply. The incident was linked to a dispute over a car sale and a road-rage incident. Ray Frangieh later pleaded guilty to drug trafficking. His ex-wife was also involved in money laundering.

Ray Frangieh and his brother, Joe, had previous convictions related to cocaine supply. Joe Frangieh faced a tax audit over unexplained deposits in his account. He claimed the deposits were repayments of loans and investments from family members. Individuals who provided declarations in his support were later convicted of criminal activities.

Ray Frangieh also faced legal issues for dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage and assault. He sued the Australian Tax Office for $8.75 million but lost the case. The court ruled against his claims of malice and bad faith by the ATO.
