2003 Bihar Voter List Going Online Soon; No Additional Documents Needed for 4.96 Crore Voters

The Election Commission is set to upload the 2003 Bihar electoral roll on its website to assist around 4.96 crore voters in obtaining the necessary portion for the upcoming special intensive revision of the voters' list. About 60% of Bihar's electorate, these voters included in the 2003 revisions won't need to provide extra documents to verify their birth details, just the relevant extract from the 2003 roll.

The remaining 40% of voters, approximately three crore, will have to submit one of 11 specified documents to confirm their birth details. The aim is to identify each individual before adding their names to the list.

Bihar currently has over 7.89 crore registered voters across 243 assembly constituencies. The state's elections are slated for later this year. The Electoral Registration Officer in each constituency will ensure the accuracy of the electoral roll during the revision process.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar highlighted that the special revision is crucial to maintain the accuracy of the electoral rolls, ensuring that only eligible voters are included. Existing voters will receive an enumeration form from Booth Level Officers and can also download it online. The EROs will prepare the draft electoral roll based on the received forms and documents.

The last intensive revision in Bihar was in 2003, and voters enrolled after that won't need additional documents except the extract of the roll. The EC aims to guarantee the accuracy and eligibility of voters in the electoral rolls.
