Lando Norris Secures Pole Position in Austria Qualifying
Lando Norris claimed an impressive pole position in Austria ahead of Charles Leclerc and Oscar Piastri, with Max Verstappen finishing in P7. The session saw intense competition with surprises and disappointments for various drivers.
The Ferraris of Leclerc and Hamilton were early out on track as 15 minutes went on the clock for Q2, joined by Albon in an initially quiet start to the segment before others began to filter out onto the circuit a few minutes later.
Lawson briefly went fastest in the opening runs, but Verstappen, Piastri, and Norris took turns at the top, with Norris leading the pack with a time of 1m 04.410s.
Verstappen faced grip issues, leading to a red flag due to a trackside fire. Bortoleto impressed by securing a spot in Q3 for the first time. Leclerc and Gasly also made significant moves up the leaderboard.
Alonso and Albon missed out on the top 10, finishing in P11 and P12 respectively. Hadjar, Colapinto, and Bearman were also knocked out of the session.
