Alert for Landslides and Flooding in Luzon Due to Intensifying Rains

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) issued Geohazard Advisory 1 on July 3, 2025, flagging 252 barangays in Luzon and 412 in Metro Manila for possible landslides and flooding from July 3 to 6.

The MGB advised communities and LGUs in Luzon to stay alert for rain-induced landslides, flash floods, flooding, and debris flows due to a low pressure area strengthening the southwest monsoon.

Provincial, city, municipal, and barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils should prepare for possible weather-related disasters, especially in high-risk areas.

PAGASA's latest weather bulletin showed heavy to intense rainfall projected in several provinces, with mountainous areas at higher risk due to saturated soil.

252 barangays in Luzon and 412 in Metro Manila are highly susceptible to rain-induced landslides and flooding from July 3 to 6.

Residents are urged to monitor weather updates, heed local warnings, and be prepared to evacuate if necessary for safety during the enhanced monsoon rains.
