Pak Suzuki Raises Car Prices Due to Tax Hike and NEV Levy

Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has increased the prices of all its vehicles due to a rise in the sales tax rate from 12.5% to 18% and the introduction of a New Energy Vehicle (NEV) levy. This has significantly impacted vehicle costs.

The new prices, effective from July 1, 2025, have resulted in price hikes for various Suzuki models like Alto, Cultus, Swift, and Ravi.

PSMC informed dealers about the new prices through a circular, with increases of up to Rs 186,000.

The company attributed these price changes to higher government taxes and the NEV levy, which have increased the overall production and sales costs of vehicles.

The NEV levy, introduced under the Finance Act 2025, affects all internal combustion engine vehicles and motorcycles, leading to price hikes across various vehicle categories. The policy exempts electric and hybrid cars, vehicles made exclusively for export, and those used by diplomatic missions or international organizations with diplomatic privileges.

Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC) also raised KIA car prices due to the NEV Levy, Pakistani rupee depreciation, and increasing international freight costs.
