IndiGo Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Mumbai Due to Engine Issue: Report

An IndiGo flight from Delhi to Goa had to make an emergency landing at Mumbai airport on Wednesday evening due to an engine failure, as reported by a source familiar with the matter.

An IndiGo spokesperson mentioned that flight 6E 6271, traveling from Delhi to Goa's Manohar International Airport, faced a technical issue during the journey.

Flight trackers indicated that the plane departed from Delhi around 8 pm, slightly delayed, and was redirected to Mumbai. It safely landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport just before 10 pm.

The Airbus A320neo-operated flight made an emergency landing at 9.52 pm, according to the source. The exact number of passengers on board was not immediately available.

On a previous occasion, on July 9, an IndiGo flight 6E 5009 heading to Delhi had to return to Patna mid-air due to a bird strike, as informed by the airline's spokesperson.

The spokesperson mentioned that the flight was canceled for the day for necessary aircraft maintenance, with passengers being offered refunds or alternative travel arrangements.

Due to adverse weather, five flights were diverted from Delhi airport on the same day. Two flights each of IndiGo and Air India were redirected to Jaipur, and one Air India flight was diverted to Amritsar.

Air India and IndiGo issued statements warning of possible delays in operations due to heavy rain and gusty winds in Delhi.
