Sharon Garin Sworn In as New DOE Chief
Sharon Garin has officially become the new Energy chief, succeeding former Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla. Garin vows to continue the energy sector's policies and reform initiatives, focusing on renewable energy, electrification, energy resiliency, and investments.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has officially inducted former DOE Undersecretary Sharon Garin as the new Energy chief. The oath-taking ceremony with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. solidified her new role.
In a statement on Monday, July 14, Garin expressed her commitment to continuing the work of former Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla, who now heads the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
Garin emphasized the Department's dedication to energy sector policies and reform initiatives, focusing on renewable energy (RE) developments, electrification expansion, energy resiliency, and investment strengthening.
She highlighted the progress of the Green Energy Auction (GEA) and the growth in RE capacity, indicating confidence in the energy transition framework and alignment with the President's policy agenda.
Recently appointed, Garin succeeds Lotilla, who was moved to the DENR during a cabinet reshuffle.
