Manchester United's Bid for Mbeumo Hits Roadblock as Brentford Raises Price

Manchester United’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo has hit a roadblock as Brentford has increased their asking price to around £70m. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club owner, is firm on not exceeding their valuation of £65m for the forward.

Mbeumo has expressed his desire to join United, and initially, a £65m deal seemed likely by the end of June. Brentford even hinted at an upcoming medical examination.

However, Ratcliffe and Jason Wilcox, the director of football, are reluctant to give in to the higher demands and prefer to wait it out. Brentford is standing their ground due to holding an option to extend Mbeumo's contract for another year despite it expiring next summer.

If United decides to increase their offer, they may seek funds from the sale or loan of players like Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia, who have reportedly expressed their desire to leave. Ruben Amorin, the head coach, is also looking to add a center-forward to the squad after signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m.

With just over four weeks until the Premier League opener against Arsenal, United's pre-season kicks off with a match against Leeds at Stockholm's Strawberry Arena. The team will then head to the US for games against West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton.
