Surrey Police Investigate Shooting Incident Possibly Linked to Road Rage
Three individuals sustained non-serious injuries in a shooting incident in Surrey's Newton neighborhood. The Surrey Police Service is looking into a case where suspects in a white Tesla Model 3 with Ontario plates shot at four individuals in another car. The motive is believed to be road rage based on victim statements. The investigation is ongoing, with the Serious Crime Unit leading the case.

Three people were hurt following an overnight shooting in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood earlier this week. The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says that at about 1 a.m. on Tuesday, four people in an eastbound car on 84th Avenue near 140th Street were driving when three suspects in a white Tesla Model 3 with Ontario licence plates shot at them. The suspects took off, and the four people in the other car drove to a nearby police station.
Police say the BC Ambulance Service treated three of the four men for injuries, not considered serious. They were taken to the hospital in stable condition. SPS Sgt. Tige Pollack tells 1130 NewsRadio that although the motive is still being investigated, it looks like road rage may be to blame, based on information investigators have received from the victims.
He admits they’re still trying to understand what happened in the lead-up to the shots being fired. Pollack explains why the suspect vehicle, having Ontario plates, has caught their eye. As of now, the only suspect description is three South Asian men and nothing else. The SPS’ Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation, and police say the victims are cooperating.
