Islamabad Excise Department Cracks Down on Illegal Tinted Windows and Plates, Recovers Rs 67,000 in Taxes
The Islamabad Excise Department conducted a successful operation targeting vehicles with unauthorized tinted windows and non-standard number plates, imposing fines totaling Rs 67,700. The crackdown also led to the recovery of outstanding vehicle token taxes, emphasizing compliance with vehicle regulations and road safety.

The Islamabad Excise Department has intensified vehicle inspections along major roads to enforce traffic and tax regulations. In a recent operation, officials inspected 42 vehicles and imposed fines totaling Rs 67,700 on violators.
The inspection teams targeted vehicles with dark tinted windows and non-standard number plates, both prohibited under local laws for security and identification reasons, according to the spokesman of ICT administration.
Drivers using unauthorized tinted windows were fined Rs 50,000, and 10 fines were issued for non-compliant number plates. The Excise Department also recovered outstanding vehicle token taxes, collecting a total of Rs 67,700 from motorists with overdue payments.
These actions are part of a campaign to ensure compliance with vehicle regulations, improve road safety, aid law enforcement in vehicle identification, and ensure tax collection from vehicle owners. Inspections and enforcement will continue across the capital, with a focus on main highways and entry points.
Motorists are advised to remove unauthorized tints, replace non-standard plates, and pay token taxes on time to avoid fines and legal action. Compliance with regulatory standards is essential for road monitoring and accountability among vehicle owners.
The Islamabad administration plans to maintain strict checks on vehicles, with unannounced operations and heavy penalties for repeat offenders. Residents are urged to cooperate with the campaign to avoid fines, vehicle impoundment, or legal consequences.
Assistant Commissioner Nilore emphasized the importance of such initiatives for traffic discipline and public safety. Authorities are committed to ensuring all vehicles in the city comply with the law.
