Sharon Garin Pledges to Continue Energy Reforms and Policies

NEWLY appointed Energy Secretary Sharon Garin, in a statement, committed to sustain ongoing reforms and uphold policies in the department, while accelerating renewable energy development and expanding electrification across the country.

\"I would like to assure the members of the energy family and our partners in the public and private sectors of the Department’s steadfast commitment to the continuity of energy sector policies and reform initiatives,\" Garin said in her first official pronouncement since taking over the post of Raphael Lotilla, who now heads the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

Garin vowed to pursue \"the acceleration of renewable energy development, the expansion of electrification efforts, the enhancement of energy resiliency, and the continued strengthening of our investment climate.\"

Appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. last week, Garin said she takes on the role with \"humility and a strong sense of duty\" at a time when the country must \"balance the priorities of energy security, sustainability, and affordability.\"

She cited the agency’s Green Energy Auction program, increasing renewable energy capacity, and growing investor confidence in the energy transition framework reflect progress under the current policy direction.

\"These initiatives are aligned not only with our long-term energy goals but also with broader aspirations for inclusive and sustainable national development,\" Garin said.

\"The Department shall continue to promote collaboration, uphold transparency, and pursue innovative and responsive energy solutions to ensure that every Filipino benefits from a reliable, secure, and sustainable energy future,\" she declared.
