Tropical Depression Crising Triggers Signal No. 1 in 9 Luzon Areas
Tropical Depression Crising prompts the hoisting of Signal No. 1 in nine areas across Luzon, according to Pagasa. The storm is expected to strengthen into a tropical cyclone and bring rain to different parts of the country.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 was raised over nine areas in Luzon due to Tropical Depression Crising, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In a 5 a.m. press briefing, Pagasa Weather Specialist Chenel Dominguez identified the areas under Signal No. 1:
- Cagayan, including Babuyan Islands
- Isabela
- Northeastern portion of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao)
- Quirino
- Kalinga
- Eastern portion of Mountain Province (Sadanga, Barlig, Paracelis, Natonin)
- Eastern portion of Ifugao (Alfonso Lista, Aguinaldo, Mayoyao, Banaue, Hingyon, Lagawe, Lamut)
- Northeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya (Kasibu, Quezon, Bagabag, Diadi)
- Apayao
Crising was last located 535 kilometers east of Juban, Sorsogon, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gusts of up to 70 kph, moving west-northwestward at 15 kph.
The tropical depression is expected to intensify into a tropical cyclone within the day, moving generally northwestward over the next 48 hours.
Pagasa anticipates the possibility of higher tropical cyclone wind signals as Crising nears the landmass, with TCWS No. 3 being the highest level.
Crising is also influencing the southwest monsoon, bringing rains to the western section of the country in the coming days.
The tropical depression is forecast to move west-northwestward, passing through the northern part of Northern Luzon and potentially exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility by the weekend.
