President Marcos Jr. Calls for Deeper Probe into Missing Cockfighting Enthusiasts
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered a thorough investigation into the disappearance of over 100 cockfighting enthusiasts. New suspects, including a businessman and police officers, have emerged in the case dating back to 2021.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. wants a thorough investigation into the missing cockfighting enthusiasts, known as 'sabungeros,' according to Malacañang. This comes after a certain individual named 'Alyas Totoy' implicated businessman Charlie 'Atong' Ang, several police officers, and a showbiz personality in the case of over 100 missing cockfight aficionados dating back to 2021.
Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro stated during a press conference that Marcos has ordered concerned agencies to continue the investigation and hold those accountable. The victims reportedly disappeared from April 2021 to January 2022 in various locations such as Laguna, Batangas, Manila, and Bulacan, with 'Alyas Totoy' claiming their remains were dumped in Taal Lake in Batangas.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) mentioned the existence of four other witnesses who could provide valuable information, but their testimonies need to be carefully evaluated to determine if they can be state witnesses. The Palace Press Office emphasized the importance of additional evidence such as pictures and videos to aid in resolving the case.
Government and police officials allegedly involved in the billion-peso cockfighting industry are suspected of being behind the victims' abduction and deaths, with reports suggesting their influence extends to the courts, including the Supreme Court. Despite this, Castro expressed confidence in the country's justice system to ensure a fair resolution.
