Man Accused of Shooting Prison Guard Dead Returned to UK from Spain Shortly Before Incident
Elias Morgan and Anthony Cleary are currently on trial for the murder of prison officer Lenny Scott. The court heard that Morgan returned to the UK from Spain just days before the fatal shooting outside a gym in Skelmersdale.

The man accused of shooting a prison officer dead in a 'revenge attack' returned to the UK from Spain days earlier. Former HMP Altcourse guard Lenny Scott died after being shot six times by a gunman outside a gym in Skelmersdale. Elias Morgan and Anthony Cleary, both of Edge Hill, are on trial charged with his murder. Morgan is alleged to have pulled the trigger in an 'act of retaliation' against the officer. Cleary is accused of assisting the gunman by sourcing a van and e-bike used during the shooting.
Lenny Scott refused a bribe in return for not reporting a phone held illegally by Morgan behind bars. This led to Morgan allegedly threatening him. The court heard details of Morgan's movements before and after the shooting, indicating a planned and executed murder. Both defendants deny the charges. The trial continues before Mr Justice Goose at Preston Crown Court.
