Man Injured in Birmingham City Centre Bus and Road Sweeper Collision
A man was injured in a collision between a bus and a road sweeper at the junction of Steelhouse Lane and Colmore Circus Queensway in Birmingham city centre. The incident occurred around 2:40pm on Tuesday. The man was taken to the hospital with non-serious injuries. The bus sustained damage but no passengers were harmed.

The number 16 service struck the sweeper at the junction of Steelhouse Lane and Colmore Circus Queensway, around 2.40pm on Tuesday (July 1).
Police closed the busy route while West Midlands Ambulance Service treated a man at the scene. His injuries were not said to be serious and he was transferred to the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. National Express said none of the bus passengers were injured, the road was later reopened. The bus sustained damage to the front and nearside.
A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: 'We were called to reports of a collision between a road sweeper and a bus at the junction of Steelhouse Lane and Colmore Circus Queensway at 2.40pm, one ambulance attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital.'
A spokesperson for National Express West Midlands said: 'One of our vehicles operating the 16 service was involved in an incident at Colmore Circus earlier today (Tuesday 1 July 2025), resulting in damage to the front and nearside of our vehicle. There were no injuries reported by any passengers onboard. Emergency services attended the scene and we will continue to provide any assistance as needed.'
Services 16, 74, 82 and 87 were initially diverted before returning to normal service.
