Paramount to Pay Trump $16 Million for 60 Minutes Interview Dispute

CBS, owned by Paramount, previously stated the case was without merit and sought its dismissal. The settlement is the latest concession by a US media company to a president critical of coverage. The lawsuit alleged CBS aired two versions of an interview with Harris, showing different responses to a question on Israel-Gaza war. Trump claimed one version was deceptively edited to protect Harris.

The network aired the clips on Face the Nation and 60 Minutes. CBS defended the editing, citing time constraints and news standards. Trump initially sought $10bn but later increased it to $20bn for damages. CBS offered $15m to settle, but Trump demanded over $25m.

Paramount confirmed the settlement covers legal fees and agreed to release transcripts of 60 Minutes interviews with future presidential candidates.
