Anne-Sophie Pic, one of the world's most celebrated chefs, has designed a special menu for astronaut Sophie Adenot. The European Space Agency (ESA) has named it \"a pinch of France in space\" and it includes four starters, two main courses, and two desserts.

Instead of the usual freeze-dried nutrients, Adenot, 42, will enjoy dishes like \"Foie gras cream on toasted brioche\" and \"Lobster bisque with crab and caraway.\"

Astronaut Sophie Adenot collaborated with award-winning French chef Anne-Sophie Pic to create this gastronomic menu for her trip to the ISS next year.

Adenot expressed that these dishes, including braised beef and chocolate cream, will not only please the palate but also provide a connection to Earth and her homeland.

Strict rules govern food on the ISS - it must be crumb-free, lightweight, and have a shelf life of at least 24 months, according to the ESA. Most meals are canned, vacuum-packed, or freeze-dried, with fresh produce being a rare treat upon resupply missions.

To maintain morale and enhance crew bonding, every tenth meal is a specially prepared \"bonus meal\" for each astronaut, often in collaboration with a chef.

Renowned for her haute cuisine, Pic, 55, with the most Michelin stars of any female chef globally, sees this project as a way to innovate within the constraints of space.

Adenot plans to share this haute cuisine with her fellow crew members, marking a historic moment of French gastronomy in space.
