Electrician jailed for biting off coworker's ear during drunken fight

Senthilkumar Vishnusakthi, a 21-year-old electrician, was sentenced to six months’ jail on July 3 for biting off part of his co-worker's earlobe during a fight after consuming three cans of beer. The victim, Mr Nesamani Hariharn, 31, suffered permanent loss of a segment of his earlobe due to the incident.
Court documents revealed that the altercation occurred when Senthilkumar accused Mr Nesamani of spying on him and reporting his work performance to their supervisor. The argument escalated, leading to a physical confrontation where Senthilkumar punched Mr Nesamani and ultimately bit off a part of his earlobe.
Following the incident, the police were called, and Mr Nesamani was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, his injuries, including a lacerated ear and facial wounds, have healed since then.
Voluntarily causing grievous hurt to another person can result in a jail term of up to 10 years, a fine, or caning.
