A Chinese national, Wu Zhishi, 45, was arrested by Bureau of Immigration (BI) intelligence agents in Daet, Camarines Norte on June 25. The arrest was in coordination with government intelligence operatives, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Presidential Anti Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC). Agents posed as customers in Wu's business before the arrest. Wu allegedly used illegally acquired government-issued documents and claimed to be a Filipino in transactions. He presented an expired retiree's visa card during the arrest but denied assuming a fake Philippine identity. However, he reportedly used Philippine identification cards to secure a firearm license. Wu was transferred to the custody of the PAOCC but remains under BI custody for deportation proceedings due to violating Philippine immigration laws. BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado urged government agencies to tighten measures to ensure only Filipinos obtain Philippine IDs.
