The singer, 43, was set to perform in Aberdeen last night early exit Example forced to apologise as he pulls out of gig just hours after performing at Glastonbury. EXAMPLE has been forced to apologise for cancelling a gig just hours after performing at Glastonbury. The singer told fans he was 'absolutely gutted' after losing his voice because of 'unexpected sound issues' on stage. Example, whose real name is Elliot John Gleave, sang on the Shangri-La stage on Friday night. The next morning, he told fans: 'During my set at Glastonbury, we experienced some unexpected sound issues that forced me to push my voice much harder than usual. I could feel it starting to go, so we made the difficult decision to cut the set short by 20 minutes to protect it ahead of today's performance at Granite City Festival Aberdeen. I left the site immediately after the show and arrived at Gatwick by 7am, managing to get a few hours' sleep before my flight to Aberdeen. Unfortunately when I woke up, my voice was completely gone. I hate cancelling shows - over the past 21 years, I've played 1,534 gigs and only ever cancelled 11. Scotland has always been my favourite place to perform and this was an incredibly hard decision to make. To everyone who was planning to see me today - and to the Granite City Festival team - I'm truly sorry. We'll make it up to you, E x.' After pointing out the sound issues during the Glastonbury set, Example added: 'This isn’t a dig at the production crew. These things just happen sometimes.' Focusing on the positives, he told fans: 'One of the smaller stages at Glastonbury. Except when we turn up. Honestly thank you so much for having me last night. No artists make any money at Glastonbury. And that’s fine. It’s one of the most magical places on earth. I still want Pyramid stage. But I’m not going away just yet. I have patience.' He then added: 'Gotta rest up so I can fly back to Australia tomorrow and be a professional Dad. Big love. E x.' Example apologised to Scottish fans for missing the show.
