Charli XCX Accused of Lip-Syncing at Glastonbury Music Festival

Charli XCX was one of the most anticipated acts to be performing at Glastonbury, but as she conquered the music festival, some fans believed she was not as live as she said she was. Several unhappy viewers believed Charli XCX was miming during her set.

One of Glastonbury's most highly-anticipated artists has been accused of 'miming' during her set. Charli XCX's Glastonbury slot was billed to be one of the largest attended during the music festival on Worthy Farm in Somerset on Saturday night (June 28). Taking to the Other Stage as the final headliner of the night, thousands came to the Essex girl's performance.

The crowds for Charli XCX were significantly higher in comparison for Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts, who were performing on the Pyramid Stage as part of the Legends slot. Delivering some of her big hits since the release of her smash album 'Brat', Charli gave a huge and energetic performance, leaving little to the imagination with her raunchy and seductive outfits.

Performing for the crowd, Charli was dressed provocatively, wearing a black crop top and scantily-clad pants as she worked to tease the audience with her assets while singing the likes of 'I Don't Care', 'Guess' and 'Von Dutch'. However, while fans at the festival were lapping it up, some viewers at home watching her set were less than impressed.

Some viewers would go on to accuse the hitmaker of lip-syncing during her performance, with many believing that she was instead miming her way through some songs in order to give her bombastic energy. One user took to social media to vent their frustrations: 'Can’t watch Scissor Sisters and Charli XCX is bloody dreadful; could literally be any random person miming - WTF for a Glastonbury Saturday night, disappointing.'

A second account equally attacked the singer, penning: 'Charli XCX, embarrassing that, turning up to walk around stage pretending to sing!' Whilst a third simply penned: 'Predictable but shame nonetheless that Charli XCX can't sing live.'

But while some were less than happy with what Charli had to offer, a host of other viewers were thrilled to see the 'Girl, So Confusing' singer give it all during her set. 'Charli xcx is taking over Glasto, she’s bloody amazing,' wrote one user.

'Charli XCX is killing it!' penned a second viewer watching the outlandish set unfold. A third account beamed as they watched on with delight: 'Charli XCX, the icon you are.'

The floor-filler songstress also went on to bring on some other big names as part of her set, as she was able to invite a huge singer during one of her signature tracks. As the crowd sang her smash hit 'Apple', attention turned to someone in the crowd, who performed the legendary TikTok dance that was incorporated into the song.

However, while the song was being performed, people realized that the selected woman to execute the dance was none other than Gracie Abrams. Having performed her own set on Friday night (June 27), the star opted to make a second appearance at good pal Charli's set.

Charli has been living it up at Glastonbury as she and her partner George Daniel were performing at their own respective headline slots during the course of the festival. The 1975 drummer played to thousands as the indie band took to the Pyramid Stage on Friday night for the first major headline of the festival itself.
