Madhya Pradesh Government Takes Action Against 8 Engineers for Faulty Bridge Design

The Madhya Pradesh government suspended seven engineers, including two chief engineers of the Public Works Department, for the faulty design of the new rail overbridge (ROB) in Aishbagh area of Bhopal with a 90-degree turn. A retired senior engineer will face a departmental inquiry. The action was taken after a probe report was submitted by a committee.
Chief minister Mohan Yadav stated, \"I took cognizance of the serious negligence in the construction of Aishbagh ROB and ordered an inquiry. On the basis of the inquiry report, action has been taken against eight PWD engineers.\" The engineers suspended include GP Verma, Sanjay Khande, Sonal Saxena, Shabana Razzak, Umashankar Mishra, Ravi Shukla, and Javed Shaqueel. A departmental inquiry will be initiated against retired engineer MP Singh.
The construction agency and design consultant have been blacklisted. A committee has been formed to make necessary improvements in the ROB before its inauguration. Additional chief secretary Neeraj Mandloi mentioned, \"A committee has been formed to issue charge sheets to all the officers and coordinate with railways for safety and design improvements.\"
