Russia Launches Largest Aerial Strikes on Ukraine: Over 530 Air Assets Deployed Overnight

Russia launched its largest aerial attack on Ukraine overnight, using 537 aerial weapons, including drones, decoys, and missiles. Ukraine's air force reported that 249 weapons were shot down, and 226 were lost, likely due to electronic jamming.

The attack included various missiles such as Kh-47M2 Kinzhal, Iskander-M/KN-23, Kh-101/Iskander-K cruise missiles, Kalibr cruise missiles, and S-300 anti-aircraft missiles. The assault targeted regions across Ukraine, including western Ukraine.

Ukraine's air force confirmed the loss of an F-16 fighter jet and the death of pilot Lieutenant Colonel Maksym Ustymenko during the attack. EU warplanes were deployed to protect Polish airspace, and casualties were reported in Kherson and Cherkasy regions.

Russian President Putin expressed readiness for peace talks in Istanbul, but previous efforts have not led to a breakthrough. Talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations have focused on prisoner exchanges without progress towards a settlement.
