The founder of a banking giant, Bernard Kantor, has been banned from driving and fined £800 for using a mobile phone while driving his Bentley in London's West End. The incident occurred on June 9 last year when he was caught checking emails at temporary traffic lights. Kantor pleaded guilty at Croydon Magistrates' Court after fighting the charge for a year.

At the time of the offense, Kantor already had nine points on his license for speeding violations. The additional six points from this incident led to his automatic disqualification. He was fined £800, ordered to pay costs, and received a six-month driving ban.

Kantor, a South African businessman, co-founded Investec in 1974 and was the managing director of its British operations. The company has been involved in sponsoring cricket, horse racing, and rugby events. Kantor stepped down from his leading role at Investec in 2018 but continues to invest in other businesses.
