Cable Car Service Disruption on Mount Faber Line Causes Two-Hour Delay

A 'temporary service disruption' lasting about two hours halted the cable car service along the Mount Faber line on Tuesday (Jul 29). Mount Faber Leisure Group, the operator, stated that the disruption occurred at 12.46pm. Guests were promptly alighted at their nearest stations by 1.06pm, and normal operations resumed at 2.45pm.

The cable cars, a popular tourist attraction in southern Singapore, operate along two lines. One connects Mount Faber, Harbourfront, and Sentosa stations, while the other links Sensoryscape, Imbiah Lookout, and Siloso Point stations.

A customer service officer mentioned a 'technical issue' starting around 12.40pm, with more than six passengers reporting the incident. A hiker in the area, Pamela Au, observed the cable cars stationary at about 1.10pm. By 2.50pm, station staff informed passengers at Mount Faber that service had resumed, leading to passengers buying tickets and queuing to board the cable cars.

Mount Faber Leisure Group assured CNA that all guests were safely disembarked to the nearest station as a precaution, with alternative transport provided. The statement emphasized the priority of guest well-being and safety, pledging to maintain a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
