Woman jailed for using stolen hospital prescription pad to make fake prescriptions
Kym Dunleavy, a Dublin woman, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for using a stolen prescription pad to create fake prescriptions for sleeping tablets. She had a history of trauma, including the murder of her mother and two brothers, as well as the death of her son. Despite her struggles, she has managed to self-detox and aims to reintegrate into the community.

Kym Dunleavy suffered unimaginable trauma over the years, including the murder of her mother by her brother, the deaths of two brothers, and the loss of her son. She has been jailed for 18 months for using a false prescription to obtain sleeping tablets.
Dunleavy pleaded guilty to multiple charges of using a false medical prescription between November 2018 and April 2019. She has 71 previous convictions for theft and fraud.
After being identified as a suspect, Dunleavy was found with a prescription pad from Beaumont Hospital, which she had taken. She used forged prescriptions to obtain more sleeping tablets to cope with anxiety and traumatic memories.
Despite her troubled past, Dunleavy has managed to self-detox but has isolated herself from the community. She hopes to reintegrate once she overcomes her addiction.
Although Judge Orla Crowe acknowledged some positives in Dunleavy's life, she sentenced her to 18 months in prison, considering her history of offending and high risk of re-offending.
