Property tycoon Ong Beng Seng, facing charges related to former transport minister S Iswaran's case, had his guilty plea adjourned, court records show. Originally set for Jul 3, the plea is now scheduled for a pre-trial conference on Jul 8 at 9.30am.
Ong was charged in October 2024 for abetting Mr Iswaran in obtaining an all-expenses-paid trip to Doha worth about S$20,850 in December 2022. The charges include providing a private plane flight, hotel stay, and a business class flight.
The second charge alleges that Ong aided in obstructing justice by paying for a business class flight ticket from Doha to Singapore when the investigation had started.
Ong, the managing director of Hotel Properties Limited, is stepping down to focus on his medical conditions. He has been undergoing chemotherapy for bone marrow cancer.
Mr Iswaran was sentenced to jail in October 2024, placed on home detention on Feb 7, and has been out of prison since Jun 6.
