Over 60 students in Telangana hospitalised after falling ill post dinner at Nagarkurnool school

More than 60 students at a state-run Girls Residential School in Telangana's Nagarkurnool district complained of vomiting, diarrhoea, and stomach ache after dinner. Following the incident, all students were hospitalized, with 50 later discharged. Health officials suspect the cause to be improperly fermented curd.

In a tragic incident, more than 60 students from a state-run Girls Residential School in Telangana's Nagarkurnool district complained of vomiting, diarrhoea, and stomach ache after having dinner. The students were immediately hospitalized, and 50 of them were discharged later, as per officials. 64 students fell ill after consuming dinner at the residential school at Uyyalawada on Saturday night. The girls showed symptoms of vomiting, diarrhoea, and stomach ache. Health officials suspect that the students fell ill because the curd they consumed was not fully fermented. An inquiry has been initiated, and samples of food items and drinking water have been sent for testing to determine the cause of the incident.

In a similar incident in Karnataka's Mandya, 10 students of a residential school were hospitalized after complaining of stomach pain and other symptoms. The incident took place in K M Doddi in Maddur taluk. The students experienced vomiting and stomach pain after consuming food served at the school. In Maharashtra's Thane district, three sisters aged ten, eight, and five died due to suspected food poisoning in Shahapur tehsil. The girls started showing symptoms of food poisoning on July 21 and were admitted to hospitals, where two of them passed away on July 24, and the third sister died on Friday morning.
