Michael Flatley faces €2.8m security demand in Cork mansion case
Lord of the Dance star Michael Flatley is in a legal battle over works at his Cork mansion. He is asked to lodge €2.8m for security before the upcoming hearing. The case involves alleged toxic residue at Castlehyde.

Lord of the Dance star Michael Flatley’s legal battle has begun at the Commercial Court with two applications for security for costs in his upcoming action over works at his Cork mansion, Castlehyde.
Ms Justice Eileen Roberts is asked to order up to €2.8m to be lodged in court by Flatley in advance of the main action over the works at his Fermoy mansion. The application is expected to last two days.
Andrew Fitzpatrick SC, representing the underwriting and insurance defendants, stated that Flatley lives in Monaco and provided valuations for his assets. The court is to determine if Flatley has sufficient assets in this jurisdiction to cover costs.
In the main case, Flatley claims toxic chemical residue forced his family to vacate Castlehyde in October 2023. He is suing the main contractor and insurance underwriters over the alleged residue issue. All allegations are denied.
