Imran Khan KC, defending Mr Amaaz, argued that PC Marsden made several mistakes during the incident that were not in line with his police training. He accused PC Marsden of using unlawful force and acting below the professional standards expected of a police officer. Mr Khan stated that the force used was unjustified, disproportionate, and unnecessary.
PC Marsden, who had been with Greater Manchester Police for about five years, denied any wrongdoing and described his performance as a police officer as professional both in general and on the day of the incident. He maintained that his actions were in line with the required standards.
