Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III confirmed that the officers are held in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Napolcom Vice Chairperson Rafael Calinisan stated that this move allows the officers to present their side during proceedings by filing counter affidavits. It also ensures their safety. The Napolcom also backs the protective custody of whistleblower Julie Patidongan, also known as Totoy, emphasizing his safety and the importance of his testimony.
Napolcom, PNP, and the Department of Justice are actively investigating the case of missing sabungeros, with Napolcom ready to impose administrative sanctions, including dismissal, on officers found involved.
In a GMA News interview, Patidongan alleged police officers' involvement in the abduction and killing of sabungeros from April 2021 to January 2022.
