MNS Workers Detained After Rally Clash in Maharashtra

Several workers of Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) were detained during a rally in Maharashtra. The rally aimed to counter a protest by traders over the assault of a food stall owner for not speaking Marathi. The rally in Mira Bhayander area caused heavy police deployment and road blockage, disrupting traffic.

Despite no police permission for the rally route, MNS workers planned to march to Mumbai. However, the detention of MNS leaders in the early morning derailed their plans. MNS's Sandeep Deshpande criticized the situation, calling it 'Emergency-like'.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the MNS workers did not follow the permitted route. He clarified that police did not refuse permission but suggested an alternate route, which MNS did not agree to.

Earlier, a food stall owner was assaulted by MNS workers for not speaking Marathi, sparking outrage. Seven MNS members were detained and later released. Traders protested demanding action against the MNS workers involved.

This incident followed MNS's advocacy for the use of Marathi in commercial establishments and banks. Previously, MNS workers vandalized an entrepreneur's office for not speaking fluent Marathi.
