Romualdez presented the policy direction of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Bagong Pilipinas program to neophyte and returning lawmakers from Central Luzon and Calabarzon. The legislative roadmap includes the first 20 House bills filed for the 20th Congress, addressing various needs such as food security, healthcare, education, digital governance, job creation, and national security.
Romualdez emphasized the importance of ensuring national development reaches every district and barangay by listening to concerns and aspirations of the lawmakers. The first 20 bills cover a range of topics including rice industry, healthcare, disease prevention, education, cybersecurity, and senior citizens’ rights. These bills will be formally presented to the majority after President Marcos’ State of the Nation Address on July 28.
Romualdez invited lawmakers to discuss the bills and address the needs of their districts, emphasizing the goal of building a strong and just nation. He assured that the House would exercise oversight functions to ensure proper implementation of national programs and alignment with regional priorities. Collaboration, consultation, and concrete results are key to delivering the promise of Bagong Pilipinas to every Filipino.
Arroyo and attending lawmakers expressed readiness to work together for the transformation of the Philippines into a stronger and more inclusive nation. Romualdez highlighted the importance of the bills in supporting the administration’s food security program and reforming the National Food Authority to stabilize rice prices.
