Heat Health Alert Issued for Parts of England Due to Expected Heatwave

A third heatwave is expected in parts of the UK, with officials warning of 'significant impacts' on health and social care services. A yellow heat health alert has been issued for the southern half of England from Wednesday to Tuesday. London, East Midlands, West Midlands, East of England, South East, and South West are covered by the alert.

'Significant impacts' are likely as the Met Office predicts heatwave conditions with temperatures in the low 30s by the end of the week. Public Health Consultant Paul Coleman advises taking precautions in the sun. Yorkshire Water has issued a hosepipe ban starting Friday.

Two amber heat health alerts were issued in June, making it England's warmest on record. An official heatwave is recorded after three consecutive days of certain temperatures. Sky weather producer Jo Robinson forecasts rising temperatures across most areas.

Central and southern England, Wales, and parts of Scotland will experience heatwave conditions. Temperatures are expected to reach 30C and above for five days, with a small chance of hitting 34C. The heat is homegrown, not from the near continent.

Robinson warns of uncomfortably warm nights by the weekend and the possibility of the heat health alert being upgraded. In Greece, the Acropolis closed due to high temperatures, and the risk of wildfires is expected to increase.
