McDonald's Adds McGriddles to Australian Breakfast Menu Due to Popular Demand
McDonald's in Australia is introducing McGriddles to their Breakfast Menu starting July 9. McGriddles are maple-infused pancakes with various breakfast fillings. The addition follows successful trials and global popularity. Fans are excited about the sweet and savory flavors of McGriddles.
Fancy something sweet and savoury for breakfast? Macca's has announced the arrival of a new item to its Breakfast Menu in Australia, after a successful trial in select stores earlier this year. McGriddles will be available in stores nationwide starting July 9 after becoming popular in stores across the globe – but what on earth is this bizarre breakfast treat, you ask?
A McGriddle is 'two warm maple-infused pancakes' sandwiched with several delicious brekkie favs. They come in three varieties:
- The Sausage and Cheese McGriddles: Macca's iconic beef sausage patty and melty cheese between two soft, warm maple-infused pancakes
- The Bacon, Egg and Cheese McGriddles: Rasher bacon, egg omelette and a slice of melty cheese between two soft, warm maple-infused pancakes
- The Sausage, Egg and Cheese McGriddles: Macca's iconic beef sausage patty, egg omelette, and a slice of melty cheese between two soft, warm maple-infused pancakes
The breakfast item quickly went viral across the globe, with a number of influencers taking to their socials to give it a firm thumbs up. One Aussie fan said McGriddles 'need to drop nationwide ASAP' after trying them.
Food blogger What The Haloumi said the McGriddle reminded her of 'sweet salty popcorn'. She miraculously sampled hers while having her dog on her lap.
Amanda Nakad, Marketing Director of Menu and Brand for McDonald's Australia said: 'Our Aussie fans are obsessed over the sweet and savoury flavours of McGriddles when we trialed it earlier this year. Safe to say, we got the message and gave our iconic breakfast menu a glow up by adding it to the national menu.'
News of the new addition to the Breakfast Menu comes after 2GB's Ben Fordham reported McDonald's Australia's plans to open 30-50 new stores across the country as well as consider adding a range of new products to its permanent menu.
CEO of McDonald's Australia, Joe Chiczewski, also announced on Friday that the fast food chain would be locking in the prices of some of its popular menu items for the next 12 months. The $7 McSmart Meal includes two burgers, fries, and a drink. Instead of a second burger, customers can also choose three nuggets or a sundae instead.
