Kate's favorite maternity brand goes out of business

The maternity fashion retailer Seraphine, whose clothes were worn by the Princess of Wales during her three pregnancies, has entered administration. The company faced trading challenges due to fragile consumer confidence, leading to a majority of its 95 staff being made redundant. Seraphine's website was offering discounts up to 60% before becoming inaccessible to shoppers. Consultancy firm Interpath is exploring options for the business and its assets, including the Seraphine brand.

Will Wright, UK chief executive of Interpath, cited economic challenges as the reason for Seraphine's closure. The retailer, known for its maternity wear, had stores in London and was previously listed on the London Stock Exchange. Despite efforts to relaunch the brand earlier this year, financial pressures forced the company to file for administration.

Staff affected by the closure will receive support for claiming redundancy payments. The future of Seraphine remains uncertain as administrators work to determine the best course of action for the business.
