Xbox Developer Reveals Switch 2 Can Handle Series S Games
A developer at Black Shamrock, owned by Virtuos, stated that any Xbox Series S game could be ported to the Nintendo Switch 2, shedding light on the capabilities of the new console. The Switch 2, equipped with Nvidia's DLSS frame generation, is seen as comparable to the Series S in terms of performance.

A developer at Virtuos-owned Black Shamrock has stated that any Xbox Series S game should be able to be ported to the Nintendo Switch 2, shedding light on the capabilities of the console.
When it comes to the Nintendo Switch 2's capabilities, opinions vary - some say it matches the performance of the PlayStation 4, while others believe it is more akin to the Xbox Series S, in part due to Nvidia's DLSS frame generation.
In an interview with wccftech on July 7, Eoin O'Grady, the technical director at Black Shamrock, discussed how the Switch 2 could handle Xbox Series S games.
O'Grady mentioned that the graphics card in Nintendo's new handheld performs slightly below the Series S, but the use of DLSS on the Switch 2, not available on Xbox, makes the GPU comparison between the two systems more similar.
Regarding the processor, O'Grady pointed out that the Switch 2 is closer to the PlayStation 4, but stated that any game running at 60 FPS on the Series S should easily be ported to the Switch 2. Similarly, a Series S game running at 30 FPS that is GPU-bound should also port smoothly.
Games with intricate physics, animations, or other CPU-intensive elements may face additional challenges in achieving 30 or 60 FPS or may require extra optimization during the porting process.
Black Shamrock has previously been involved in developing titles such as Marvel's Midnight Suns, The Outer Worlds, and Grounded, all of which could potentially be considered for ports to the Switch 2.
