Irish rap group Kneecap set to perform at Glastonbury despite controversy

Irish rap group Kneecap is set to perform at Glastonbury Festival on Saturday despite calls from UK politicians to ban them. The controversy arose after one member, Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh, was charged for displaying a flag supporting a UK-proscribed terrorist organization at a gig last year. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch expressed concerns about the group's performance, but festival creator Michael Eavis supported their inclusion. Avon and Somerset Police will be present at the festival to ensure safety.

Other acts at the festival include Neil Young, Charli XCX, and Lewis Capaldi. The 1975 headlined on Friday, and Lorde surprised fans with a secret set. Celebrities like Harry Styles and Eddie Redmayne have been spotted at the event. The weather is expected to be hot and dry, with temperatures reaching the mid-20s on Saturday. Avon and Somerset Police reported 38 crimes and 14 arrests at the festival so far.

Sir Rod Stewart will perform in the Sunday legends slot, joined by former Faces band member Ronnie Wood. The BBC is offering livestreams of the festival's main stages.
