A Cork man, Vincent Harrington, aged 52, of Desert View, Clonakilty, has been ordered by a district court judge to attend anger management classes after threatening to kill a Tidy Towns volunteer. The incident took place at Convent Hill, Clonakilty on May 27, 2024. Harrington had threatened the volunteer over a van parked near his driveway, claiming it obstructed access to his property. However, Garda Brian Noonan found the van's position safe and non-obstructive.
Judge Joanne Carroll stated that Harrington's actions were fueled by a perceived wrong and a desire to intimidate others. She described him as volatile and ordered him to undergo anger management sessions, donate €200 to the poor box, and perform 20 hours of voluntary work. Compliance would result in the application of the Probation Act, with the case adjourned to November 4, 2025.
