The woman, identified as Samantha Gannon (19) from Tuam, was the driver of one of the vehicles involved. She was taken to University Hospital Galway where she later passed away from her injuries.
Friends paid tribute to Samantha, remembering her as a young woman with her whole life ahead of her. The occupants of the second vehicle, a man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and provide any information regarding the collision.
