Super Freak Boutique, Founded by The Butter Factory Co-Founders, to Close in July

Super Freak Boutique at Stamford Court, which trades in unique attire and accessories, will be closing on July 24. The boutique was opened in 2020 by Bobby Luo and Ritz Lim, co-founders of The Butter Factory nightclub. The space, known for its edgy vendors, also includes Lim's hair salon.

The venue has hosted various designers, musicians, artists, and creatives. Super Freak Boutique recently held its final market in May and will continue online. Luo mentioned feeling burnt out and expressed that running the boutique was not something that could be done on the side.

Despite his retail efforts since 2008, including Nightvision and Super Space, Luo faced losses totaling over $150,000. The boutique's business model focused on smaller wares like shoes and gifts. Luo's retail journey has been influenced by his club scene background and desire to create a space for self-expression.

He emphasized the importance of physical spaces for building community and fostering self-expression. The closure of Super Freak Boutique marks the end of his retail ventures.
