Samsung's Classic smartwatch formula made a comeback at Unpacked 2025. The new Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is a successor to the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic from 2023 but with significant differences. Let's compare the two smartwatches.

Firstly, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic introduces a new design based on Samsung's Cushion Design language, while the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic has a more traditional look.

Where the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic has a circular body, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic features a 'squircle' chassis with a circular display and rotating bezel on top.

The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic boasts an extra physical button, the Quick Button, for quick access to Samsung Health activities. It also features Samsung's Dynamic Lug system for easy strap swapping and better fit.

Both models have stainless steel frames, sapphire crystal display protection, and similar ratings for durability.

The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic comes in one size, 46mm, with a larger screen than the 43mm Watch 6 Classic but smaller than the 47mm model. It has a 1.34-inch circular Super AMOLED display.

The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic's display has a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, making it easier to read in direct sunlight than the Watch 6 Classic.

Hardware-wise, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is superior with a newer chip, more RAM and storage, a larger battery, and improved sensors for health readings.

The new Classic runs on One UI 8 Watch update, offering enhanced customization and additional health and fitness tracking features.

The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is priced at $499, higher than the Watch 6 Classic. Samsung offers a trade-in deal for existing Watch 6 Classic owners.

If you are considering an upgrade, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is a better choice due to its improved hardware and software features.
