Woman Faces Court Charges for Allegedly Hitting Bus Driver After Refusing to Remove Feet from Seat

A woman in Singapore appeared in court facing five charges after a viral video showed her putting her feet up against a bus pole when asked to remove them from a seat. Tan Wee Teng, 52, faced charges including public nuisance, criminal force, and harassment for incidents between August 2023 and August 2024.

She disrupted public bus services by putting her feet on a pole on two separate occasions, causing annoyance to passengers. She was also accused of harassing and hitting a bus driver. Tan was given a conditional warning for the previous offences but protested the three-year conditional warning for the latest charge.

Despite her claims of innocence and being set up, the judge granted a discharge not amounting to acquittal for all charges, with the option to revive them if she commits further offences. Tan expressed interest in a trial to prove her innocence.
